Nicolas Wadimoff, a Swiss filmmaker and a rock musician  won the audience award at the Festival International du Film Policier in Liege in Belgium for his „Opération Libertad” – it is his fifth long feature film, which was  premiered at the Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des réalisateurs) in Cannes in 2012. The film tells the story of a video-tape. The members of a small

revolutionary group broke into a Swiss bank near Zurich in 1978 and filmed the entirety of the action to prove the collusion between the Swiss financial system and dictators. A French movie is produced by AKKA films – founded by Nicolas Wadimoff himself.

„Opération Libertad”  was screened  at the 13th international Tbilisi film festival  where Wadimoff himself was the member of Jury and presented a very interesting master class for Georgian cinema professionals. This was his second visit to Georgia. In early 2001, his second feature “Mondialito” won the 2th Tbilisi Film Festival award Silver Prometheus.

It also has to be mentioned, that Nicola Wadimoff is of Georgian origins. His ancestors held the surname of “Mansvetashvili” and wadimoff even discovered a lot of his relatives while in Tbilisi.
