  • Pop-up Book Store

 

"Santa Esperanza" will be opening a pop-up book store in Amirani from the 3rd to the 9th of December. 

 

 

  • AniLab: Documentary Animation Workshop, Emma Lazenby

 

Bristol-based, BAFTA-award winning animator Emma Lazenby will be leading a 2-day workshop around the growing format of ‘animated documentary', where participants will learn how to plan and produce powerful and authentic animated documentary/information films.

  • AniLab: ‘Encounters' Screening, Presentation by Laura Tofarides, Laura Tofarides

This year's edition of AniLab will be casting its focus on Tbilisi's twin city, Bristol, in a series of events designed to facilitate exchange between the two cities. Bristol-based short film festival Encounters will be presenting the best of Encounters' 2018 animation programme. Leading British animator Laura Tofarides will be delivering a complementary presentation on Bristol's rich culture of film production.

  • Cultural Life in the 1st Democratic Republic of Georgia, Salome Chanturidze

A series of events will be held marking the 100 year anniversary of the first Georgian Republic. There will be an exhibition in Amirani, a screening of Alexander Tsutsunava's landmark film ‘Kristine' - the first ever Georgian feature film - and Salome Tchanduridze of the 1st Georgian Republic Research Laboratory will be hosting a discussion around the conditions of the film industry during that era.

  • AniLab: Aardman Animations Retrospective

‘Aardman Animations' is renowned for its stop-motion film productions, with a repertoire that includes acclaimed Chicken Run and the Wallace and Gromit series. The studio will be holding an animated short film retrospective on this year's AniLab

Two Pitching Workshops will take place over the course of two days, one for short films and another for feature-length. The workshops will culminate in a pitch to a jury panel, who will select the best short and full-length film project pitch, with a cash prize for the winning projects.

  • Architecture of Film, Gabriella Seidel-Hollaender

What is a pitch, an exposé, a treatment? Gabriela Seidel-Hollaender will be hosting a lecture addressed to listeners who would like to understand the answers to these questions, and gain an introduction to the basics of scriptwriting.
This talk will explore how stories work and how they are built. Which common script dramaturges and models exist? The talk will touch upon concept and theme development, dramatic structure, plot, character development, dialogue, the use of visual language and writing in format.

  • Know the Score with Olajide Paris: The Art, Craft & Psychology of Film Music , Olajide Paris

American composer Olajide Paris will be hosting a panel-discussion on the psychology and role of music in film and its evolution over the last 100 years.

Annette Lingg and Erika and Ulrich Gregor will be hosting a presentation on ‘Cinematic Relations Between Georgia and the Arsenal', a newly released publication.

  • Gender Representation in the Film Industry: Baltics in Comparison, Gabriela Seidel-Hollaender, Baltic Representatives

Gabriela Seidel-Hollaender will be moderating a discussion with leading figures and professionals of the Baltics film industry. In the case of gender representation, the Baltics is notable for presenting an exception to the international norm - gender balance is not an issue and actually appears to assert itself organically, without a quota needing to be set for it to occur.

  • Panel discussion: Film in the Baltics, Baltic Representatives

Representatives from Baltics film centres will be delivering 10 minute presentations on the state of the industry in their respective countries, followed by a comparative discussion exploring topics such as how many films are produced across the year, where the main sources of funding are derived from, questions of distribution, co-production and partnerships, how many cinemas there are, etc.

  • How to Make the Perfect Trailer for a Documentary Pitch, Baltic to Black Sea Documentary Network

Baltic to Black Sea Documentary Network will be hosting this open masterclass for documentary filmmakers on crafting a successful trailer. The master-class will be run by film editors Phil Jandaly, Srdjan Fink, film director/producer Anastasia Kirillova, and screenwriter/script consultant Monika Franczak. The workshop will include case studies of striking trailers, and discuss how to integrate the most essential information into a pitch: what must be told, and what must be shown.
