On June 7th, at Georgian National Film Centre, Batumi International Arthouse Film Festival organizers held a press conference which was attended by Film Centre director Gaga Chkheidze, Head of the culture department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Nana Dolidze, Batumi Film Festival director Giorgi Gogiberidze, manager - Zviad Eliziani and Industry Days organizers - Lasha Khalvashi and Tinatin Kajrishvili.

14th Batumi International Arthouse Film Festival will be held on September 15-22 and main part of its films will be screened at Apolo Cinema. Currently, the complete programme is unknown as it is still being set up right now. As the organizers claimed at the press conference, the complete list of the films presented in competition and other sections will be available from August.

But it's already known that Georgian premiere of Giorgi Tavartkiladze's award-winning film Bad People will be held at the festival. Also, Krzysztof Zanussi's ETER will be screened, presented by the director himself. This year, American screenwriter, film director Paul Schrader is also awaited, who is supposed to be awarded the honorary prize for the special contribution to the cinema. The second prize of honor will be granted to the actor and cinematographer from Batumi - Manuchar Shervashidze.

BIAFF Echo - it's a new programme of Batumi Film Festval, which includes holding film screenings in faraway regions of Adjara. Even before the festival begins, in July and August, open screenings will be held in Kobuleti and Batumi and in October, the audience will see films in Khulo, Shuakhevi and Keda. Big screens will be installed there especially for the closed screenings.

Traditionally, feature, documentary and short films presented at Batumi Film Festival will be screened in the following sections: Competition Programme (feature, documentary and short films), Masters' Collection, Georgian Panorama and Special Screenings.

The festival always pays a great attention to the industry part where masterclasses and workshops are held.

It is to remind that Batumi International Arthouse Film Festival is held since 2006 with the support of Batumi City Hall, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Georgian National Film Centre and Ministry of Culture of Adjara.
