Pablo De Vita

Pablo De Vita was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has graduated from the Buenos Aires University (UBA) with a degree in Image and Sound Design and has completed postgraduate studies in Cultural Management, Heritage and Sustainable Tourism (Instituto Ortega y Gasset, Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and Slavic Studies postgraduate research fellowship at Charles University (Prague).

 

Currently, Pablo De Vita is a film critic for La Nación newspaper and collaborates with different Argentinian magazines such as History (founded by Félix Luna), Criterio (founded in 1928; member of the Editorial Board), as well as CineArte16 (Spain) and El País (Uruguay). He is a Professor of Master's Studies in Film and Theater at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of UBA. Also, a guest Professor at the Universität Wien (Vienna), Ramon Llull University (Barcelona), Palacky University (Olomouc), FAMU (Prague). Recently he has been invited to the inaugural conference of the Master in Film Industry Management at the Carlos III University of Madrid. Pablo De Vita is a co-author of several books, among the most recent are: "European cities in cinema" (Akal Editions, Spain) and "The image of teachers in cinema" (Cultural and Scientific Association, Madrid). He is an author of “Dialogues with Polish Cinema” (Polish Embassy in Argentine).

 

At different times, he has been a jury member at various film festivals, including San Sebastian, Mar del Plata, Bafici, Piriápolis and Gijón international festivals and has covered Punta del Este, Berlin, Karlovy Vary, Warsaw and Venice film festivals, among others. 

 

Pablo De Vita is a recipient of the Best Art and Culture Journalist Award from the Embassy of Italy and "Honorary Award" from the International Film Festival of Paraguay. He received the Silver Honorary Medal Jan Masaryk of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

 

He is a member of the Spanish Society of Ibero-American Communication Studies; the Spanish Association of Cinematographic Press (Madrid Section of the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique), PEN Club and is a researcher at the Raúl H. Castagnino Institute of UBA. He is a member of the Argentine Academy of Communication Arts and Sciences.
